Ahmed Zeghdar, Minister of Industry, accompanied by the Chief Executive Officer of MADAR Holding, Amara Charaf-Eddine, carried out an inspection visit on Thursday, January 26, to the sugar refining project located in Laarbatache, in the province of Boumerdès.
This visit forms part of the monitoring of strategic industrial projects aimed at strengthening national production and reducing dependency on imports, particularly in the agri-food sector.
It is worth recalling that this refinery, with a production capacity of 2,000 tons per day, was recovered following a court decision within the framework of confiscated asset restitution, before being transferred to MADAR Holding.
The start of production of this industrial unit is scheduled for December 2023, marking an important step toward enhancing food security and consolidating Algeria’s sugar industry.
